The
title of Rinpoche's teaching at KTC-NJ this year is Milarepa's song:
"The Seven Ways Things Shine Inside and Out." Milarepa
is the most famous yogi in Tibetan history. His realization songs
have been widely sung and studied in Tibet.
Milarepa's songs are filled with fascinating tales of miraculous
encounters and colorful imagery. He challenged his listeners with
teasing caricatures of their behavior, unveiled the ego-plays behind
their thought-patterns, and inspired them with his wisdom and compassion.
It is said that he composed 100,000 songs to communicate his ideas
in his teachings and conversations.
Khenpo
Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche was born in eastern Tibet in 1934. He
is not only the most prominent scholar but also a yogi master. He
received pointing out instructions from the Sixteen Karmapa and
practiced in the caves near Tsurphu. Rinpoche spent nine years at
Buxador in India, where he received his degree and title of khenpo
from His Holiness the Karmapa.
Rinpoche
is well known in many Dharma centers in the U.S., Far East, and
Europe. He is also famous for his skill in debate and his ability
to present the complex ideas of Buddhism's subtle philosophy in
clear and lively way. Today, Rinpoche is often regarded as the Milarepa
of our time.
